A: DollSpace is the Internet's largest community around avatars. We have thousands of free avatars that our users have created and shared with other users.
Q: What are avatars?
A: Avatars are images, similar to buddy icons, that are used to represent yourself during online chatting and on websites. Avatars are used with MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, and Google Talk. Avatars are also used on websites like MySpace, Xanga, LiveJournal, and many other chat forums and communities. Avatars are 96x96 pixels or 100x100 pixels in dimension and are 20 KB or less. They can be animated; however, the animation will not play in many instant messaging clients, though it will work normally on websites.
Q: Is

A: Yes! All services at Dollspace are 100% free!
Q: Why won't my avatar work in MSN Messenger?
A: Animated avatars will not work in MSN Messenger. Avatars will only work in MSN Messenger if they are 96 x 96 pixels and if they are non-animated.
Q: Do you make the avatars, and if so will you make me one?
A: We do not create avatars at Dollspace. The avatars are created and uploaded by registered users. If you would like to request an avatar, you can try clicking on a users profile link and ask them via message/email if they will make an avatar for you.
Q: I forgot my username/password, what do I do?
A: If you forgot your username and/or password, you can retrieve them by going to the "Forgot Password" page and entering the email you used to create the account.

Q: How do I make an avatar?
A: There are quite a few different ways to create icons. You need to use photo-editing software such as Paint or Photoshop. You can download trial versions of these programs at "
http://www.jasc.com" and "
http://www.adobe.com" respectively. There is a great imaging program at
www.getpaint.net/download.html that you can download for free.
Q: What are the avatar requirements?
A: -Avatars should be 96 x 96 pixels or 100 x 100 pixels. They can be animated or non-animated. They should be no larger than 20 kilobytes and must be in GIF format.
-You must have created the avatar yourself! It should be an original creation!
-Offensive or obscene avatars, duplicate avatars, avatars containing advertisements (such as "Made at DollWizard.com"), and defective, poor quality, or incomplete avatars will not be accepted.
Q: How do I add words and decorations to my avatars?
A: You should add words and decorations (hearts, swirls, glitter, etc) to your icons before you upload them to the site. You need to use photo-editing software such as Paint or Photoshop to do this.
Q: I keep trying to upload an avatar but I get an error.
A: If you get "File Extension not permitted," then that means you were trying to upload an image that was not in .gif form. This often happens when you create an image in Paint and save it with a .bmp extension. You convert images to GIF extensions in Paint or other programs like Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.

Q: How do I install avatars on MySpace?
A: There are two ways you can use avatars with myspace. You can use them as your default picture, or you can display them within your layout. Here are instructions on how to do so:
A) Using Avatars as Your Default Picture
- Save the avatar to your computer by clicking on "Click here to download this avatar".
- Login to your myspace account and click the "upload photos" link.
- Click the "browse" button and find your saved avatar within your computer, then click "ok", and proceed to the next page.
- When your image is uploaded, click the "set as default picture" button, and you're all done!
B) Displaying Avatars Within your Layout
- Find an avatar on Dollspace that you would like to use, and click it.
- On the avatar's individual page, there will be a code within a text box listed under the title "Display Code".
- Select the entire code and copy it (by holding "ctrl+C").
- Login to your myspace accout and go to "edit profile".
- Paste the code (by holding "ctrl+V") into any of the text boxes on the "Interests & Personality" section, save your changes, and your avatar will now appear in your myspace layout!

- On the avatar's individual page, there will be a code within a text box listed under the title "Display Code".
- Select the entire code and copy it (by holding "ctrl+C").
- Login to your website's hosted account/blog account.
- For a blog, paste the code (by holding "ctrl+V") into the text box where you would create a new blog entry, and for a website paste the code into any of your subpages. Your avatar will appear once you have saved your blog entry/webpage file!
